Is the way we shop for homes going to change with smartphone technologies?
With the recent introduction of affordable PDA style phones or smartphones, it is now possible for the consumer to look up a home anywhere they have cell service. Home buyers can see the details on a home they are driving by immediatly. This changes the real estate industry in so far as the real estate agent of the future can now help the buyer in ways never thought of before . Tech savvy realtors serving tech savvy clients now have a means to offer their clients something outside the scope of their website that is not designed to work with Smartphones. Home buyers with the right agent can gain access to an optimized site for PDA phones to see details while out but features to notify their agent and set an appoint to view the home.
Who can play with new technology?
Introduced within the last year and a half, the TREO 650, a Palm OS based unit, has done extremely well as an attractive phone for business people (sales in large part) allowing them to connect to their offices, email and surf the Internet where a laptop is not available. The TREO 650 like its predisessor the TREO 600 were priced affordably. Units like this one and ones running on the Microsoft Windows CE (or PPC - Pocket PC) platform are in the hands of more and more people. Soon many of the PDA features found in these phones will be more accessable for the casual cell phone buyer.
 Can I surf the MLS with my Smartphone now?
Home buyers with these phones can surf the Sandicor MLS from their Smartphones and PDA phones today. MLSPDA.com offers an add-on for Realtors' websites in San Diego that allows home buyers to search quickly through the MLS listings and has added features such as street name lookup and community/subdivision lookup that allow users the opportunity to focus on a particular area or find an exact listing while driving through a neiborhood.
My Realtor doesn't have MLSPDA.com?
If your Realtor does not have MLSPDA.com as an add-on to their site, they may be able to offer it. Not every agent will be able to offer this on their site as their are restriction for some Realtors in some offices and their ability and access to the product.
